Ideas To Keep You Motivated

Self-motivation is not the easiest thing to do. You see where you are and where you want to be, but you feel as if the "where you want to be" aspect is always out of reach. You get down on things that are unaccomplished, or not yet attained, and forget to celebrate the things you did. Today I want to share some ideas from Motivational Depot to help keep you motivated.

1. Write Your Story
Write down what you want your future to look like. This can work no matter what age and no matter what you are trying to accomplish. You can write anything whether it be your desired career life, family life, personal development, living arrangements, etc. Future can range from years to months to weeks to days so don’t leave anything out…write it all down!

2. Visualize Backwards
You may be thinking why the heck would I want to do this?! However, by looking backwards you can see where you were and how far you have come. You may be at a point where you feel you are at a standstill but by looking back you can see places you have improved or things you have overcome. This can help keep you from feeling down about your current situation.

3. Dream Big
When you have your eyes set on a bigger goal it makes the little everyday obstacles and failures not seem like such a big deal because you know there is more in store for you.

4. Get Organized
A motivated mind can be cluttered by physical clutter. Little stressors can be eliminated if you make a routine of where you put things. By keeping your life (home, room, office, car, etc) organized, each day will have more clarity.

5. Volunteer
If you have never volunteered before you are missing out. There is nothing more fulfilling then taking time to make someone’s day better. Volunteering also holds reward for you; it helps you to realize all you have in life.

6. Place Motivators In Your Sight
Use the space you have to your advantage. A reminder (symbols, signs, notes, or objects) can create constant motivation for you throughout the day. People do this in all different ways; post-its on the mirror, pictures around the house, notes in a wallet and so forth. It just depends on what you see everyday and where you feel putting something would be most beneficial.

Personally, I love to do this! I have both the lock and home screen of my phone set to motivators as well as special sayings and pictures in my room.  I also have a keepsake box of notes I have gotten through time from others that I pull out and read when I’m in need of a little pick me up.

7. Listen To Music
Music is a powerful tool. It can calm, excite and motivate you.  Lyrics have much meaning when you take the time to listen. Take a look at Motivational Mix #1 which I posted a few days ago.

8. Read Quotations
Quotes can inspire and motivate you. They also make you think about life in a different way. The right quote at the time right time can certainly manage to help you keep your head up.

I have always been a quotes girl. I find joy in looking up and contemplating about them, hence for the subject of my blog!

9. Get Enough Sleep
The amount of sleep that each of us can function on varies for who we are however it is still important to make sure you are getting enough. Your energy, attitude, productivity and motivation will be better all around if you are rested.

10. Never Stop Learning
There is so much around us that it is impossible to know everything. Never be satisfied with an “I don’t know” or an “I’m not sure” especially when you have the means to find the answer.
