The Little Things

Last night hanging with some friends it hit me; it's the little things that count.

A simple sunset. Time with your family. Hanging out with your friends.

Everything that happens to us matters, no matter how big or small.

There is so much to be thankful for in everyday but far too often we get caught up caring about what not will matter in the long run over what will. There is more to appreciate when we look to the little things then when we look to the big elaborate things.

Yes, everyone loves a great big gift every once in a while, but that does not hold the meaning of life or the meaning of a relationship.

The memories that create the meaning of life cannot be bought.

Far too often we look past the little things that can mean the most. A night in with my friends or family can create more memories then anything else.

It is not what you have in your life or how many friends, but it is what you make of every situation that creates the happiness you have for everyday.

I have truly started to appreciate the little things.

Even waking up each day is something that is overlooked.

A beautiful sunset can take my breath away. A fun night with my family means more to me then anything. And a night in with my close friends is more special then a night out that you would never remember anyways.

Maybe this is a part of growing up, but I am thankful to be more appreciative of the little things that surround me everyday then searching and yearning for something that won't matter in the long run.

Questions of the Day:
1) Do the little things matter to you?
2) When did you start to appreciate them?
3) What matters most to you?

  1. I always try to take the time to appreciate the little things in life. It really became a huge deal when I started college. Suddenly, my close group of friends in high school was scattered to the winds at different universities and my boyfriend was 50 miles away. So now, I always appreciate the time that we do get to spend together because it is so few and far between. Friends and family definitely matter the most to me in life.

    Great post, Nichole! :)

    1. Thank you! I definitely think we all have our time that we realize it as well. It happens differently for each and every one of us. But like you said it's just finding the time that is right to realize. Too soon and it may not be fully appreciated and too late, well, it may be too late.

    1. That is a lovely idea. It takes just a few seconds to write them down and keep them <3 and love that you share them as well! I have not heard of the happier app. I will have to take a look! I as well like to make sure I say thanks everyday for all I have.

  5. Beautiful and well written post, Nichole. To answer your questions, little things do matter for me. Even if it's just someone giving you a smile through passing.

    1. Thank you! <3

I so agree about something simple even down to a smile through passing. I know for me personally having someone smile at me when the walk back has had the ability to change my mood for the better.

I think far too often the little gestures get overlooked.
