Hello, Hello! I hope the week is treating all of you well thus far!
While we all may not necessarily have a favorite color, we still tend to be drawn to them at different times. Have we ever stopped to think why this is so? I know I haven't. But, I did see something over on Huffington Post that helped to make a connection; colors can transform our moods and attitudes.

BLUE: soothing
has shown to slow down heart rate and lower blood pressure
GREEN: relaxation
is associated with the environment making one feel refreshed
YELLOW: happy
causes a sense of joy, maybe even adding a pep in your step
PURPLE: confidence
rich and regal color to help one face obstacles
BEIGE: calming
a warm and inviting color that can calm nerves
PINK: TLC
symbolizes love and acceptance
ORANGE: excitement
a stimulating color which can spark creativity and enthusiasm
Maybe it's never been the pot of gold we needed, just the rainbow itself.
Questions of the Day:
1) Do you currently have a favorite color?
2) Have you ever noticed a mood change due to color?
3) What would you say is needed most in your life at this moment?

Thinking Out Loud with Amanda!
Orange and Yellow are my favorite colors! My room is a light yellow so I guess I should be happy ;)
ReplyDeleteI could have guessed yellow would have been one of them for you with your love for sunshine!! :)) And orange definitely goes with that too!
DeleteI've heard this before - it's so cool! I definitely notice relaxation from green but probably from just being outside in the green grass too.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was too! It certainly made me start to think back to times where I was around those! Awesome to hear you have noticed relaxation from green:) Thinking a nice long walk in a near by park would be great for stressful times!
DeleteMy favorite color right now is pink, but turquoise and purple are pretty close seconds.
ReplyDeleteThose are my 3 favorites as well! With pink being at the top too!
DeleteNeeded most in my life? If were talking about colors, than blue, beige & orange. If were talking about just life in general, than prayers as we have a lot happening on our end.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what obviously, but consider general prayers for you guys from me headed your way. <3 And hoping that those colors (and their connections) work their way into your life.
DeleteI've heard about the association between colour and mood, and I definitely think there's some truth to it. When I moved into my new place, I decided to go with a really light beige-y and creamy colour scheme, and I have to say that my home is probably one of the most relaxing places for me. Love it :) A light turquoise is definitely up there as well.
ReplyDeleteOnce I started to think about it I could sense the truth their too! I thought back to times where color was prevalent and I did not a better mood…even as simple as a sunny morning as compared to a gloomy one. If I wake up to sunshine I start the day off happier. Thats awesome about your home! It should be a place you can relax so sounds perfect!
DeleteThere is tons of research out there on the topic of color and mood. It has been helpful for lots of designers--even some of prisons in trying to reduce violence behind the walls.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of your questions, 1) red is my favorite color; 2) I have been blessed to need nothing else as I am "better than I deserve to be."
Enjoy your day.
I could see how this would totally benefit designers, but also how cool is that about trying to incorporate it in prisons. Thanks for sharing that with me! My moms favorite color is red too! And your answer is so lovely - what a great take on it.
DeleteMy favorite colors seem to change as I grow older, so maybe that indicates I'm changing my default baseline mood? I used to love blue, then red, and now I've settled on a lovely salmon/coral pink.

That's an interesting thought that if changing favorite colors indicate the difference in someones baseline mood! That takes it even a little further and I'd love to know if there is a connection there too!
DeleteWhen thinking of what to do for this prompt I was thinking what is my favourite colour? Then I had a look around me & there is a lot of blue. Car, sofa, handbag, cardigan, trainers, in fact a lot of my clothes are blue or shades of blue! I must like the soothing effect - but maybe I should inject some yellow or orange into my life, to perk things up a bit! Great post
ReplyDeleteThanks Clare! I'd say blue has quite an influence in your life! I want to add more yellow into my life too because a boost of happiness is always welcome!
