A Little of This. A Little of That.

A few weeks ago I was really struggling with finding happiness in my life. Why? Well, I wasn't really sure. I was feeling bogged down, run down and just like everything was a task. It's such an unsettling time when you know you aren't feeling quite yourself, but you can't exactly pinpoint why. 


In an effort to try to figure things out I began looking up different articles and quotes. Some I came across helped me to think and some didn't do a thing. I  also tried to evaluate when I thought I started to feel different and what might have been the reason for that. I am thankful to be feeling better and like myself again, but I am still trying to be conscious of my daily life and do what I can to stay that way. The other day as I was scrolling through bloglovin on lunch catching up I came across this article from Popsugar which stuck out to me. Since we all go through bouts of what I did recently I wanted to share from the article a few ideas of ways you can bring happiness into your life. 


• go for a walk
allow yourself sometime in the fresh air and clean your mind

• try something new
change up your routine a bit to not get in a rut of going through the motions 

• call a friend
talking to someone close to you can help you let out your worries, without even realizing you are

• unplug
much like going for a walk to clear you mind, unplug from technology for a little while and think

*something I'm personally not so great at doing on a regular basis*

• good ole fashioned game night
surrounding yourself with good company and fun competition can help you to laugh

• sing it out
sometimes simply letting go and singing at the top of your lungs is the perfect remedy to make you smile

*I do this a lot and know the cars next to me are like whhaa?"*

• give a complement 
make someone else smile - it's contagious, you'll find yourself smiling too

• declutter
your office, your room, your car, your head - whatever at that time will help relieve unnecessary burden

• stay in the moment
just be, stop worrying about what is out of your control 

• rest up
a short break/nap can help your mind and body to reset to approach things in a different way

*I want to try this and see if by doing so I can gain new perspective by first taking a step back*

• know it's going to be ok
and that you will be ok

Never stop searching for happiness in your life, especially at those times when you need it the most.

    1. It's so hard to do especially with blogging. But the couple times I've been forced to - like my cruise this summer - there definitely is a sense of peace from it.

  3. Really great tips, Nichole. And I totally feel you on being in some sort of a funk that you can't explain -- I have a feeling it might have something to do with the time of the year. I think unplugging is something I need to work on more, especially because I'm self-employed and have a really hard time disconnecting from the work, work, work mentality.

    1. Thanks Amanda! And yes, most definitely the time of year has a play in mood - waking up everyday to grey skies isn't necessarily exciting. I know what you mean, it is so difficult to figure out where to draw the line.

    1. I think part of it can be the process of growing as a person too and figuring out more about who you are. So even though hard, it can be eye opening. Thank you love!<3

  6. I think we all go through times like this! I always remind myself how I'm feeling is only temporary. Knowing there are better times ahead typically helps put things in perspective.

    1. I agree completely. It's can be hard in the moment, but as long as you can keep in your mind that things will get better you can see a light of hope.
