Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend? Mine was pretty spectacular! I'm definitely ready to continue forward in hopes for great week to follow. One way I have come to love to kick off my week is by linking up with Katie for Marvelous In My Monday and recapping the weekend happy moments.
Buckle up because I have lots (of photos) in store for you today!
And don't forget to comment with yours too. I love hearing about them!
Marked 18 months that Billy and I have been together. I shared in my post on Friday that he had a surprise for me and promised I would tell you all today what it was. Well, if you didn't see already over on Instagram or Twitter the surprise was…KAYAKING! He remembered a conversation we had a couple months back about how I had never been, but always wanted to go. It was so much fun!
it was incredibly peaceful & beautiful |
the first time we tried to call for pick up there was no answer |
When we got back, the place he took us was about 2 hours away, we rested up some before heading out to the movies. My dad, mom and brother joined in with us! We went to go see 22 Jump Street and no words could do justice to explain how hysterical it was. I think I got an ab workout from it!

Saturday:
The morning and early afternoon was spent hanging out with my family (celebrating an early Father's Day) and doing a few things around the house. Around 6pm Billy came over and we got ready to go see my bestie Kayla for her birthday party. Her birthday is not until later this month, but since she will be out of town Kayla's boyfriend wanted to throw her a little something something before she left!
we're never to old for a fun "kid" themed party |
Kayla's boyfriend Alex made this 6 layer cake - it was delicious |
We all had such a blast! Billy and I had to leave shortly after Kayla opened up her presents to head over to a going away party for one of our friends, Andy. I've known Andy for about 6 years and Billy actually went to high school with him. The funny thing is, Billy and I didn't know Andy was a mutual friend until we started dating..small world right? I don't have any pictures to share from this because I only had my phone with me and they weren't turning out well in the dark :/ (so sorry!).
Sunday:
A happy Father's Day to my dad and all the dad's out there, wherever they may be.
My mom had leave to go on a business trip and we were all able to grab breakfast together on the way to the airport, which was nice start to the day! My dad had heard that it was supposed to rain tomorrow (err...today) so he wanted to head home to finish up the mowing. A stop at the dollar store was made on the way to grab a couple things for a project I had in mind. Last week Sarah over at Paint it Rogue posted a few DIY ideas and the one that had my attention most was for making your own scarf hangers. My mom and I had recently been looking at these for purchase but they can get quite pricey. Instead I spent $3 at the dollar store and am really happy with the final product!
All you need:
-tube hangers
-shower curtain rings
I have 2-3 scarves per ring |
Okay, truth. When I said I spent $3 I was talking only about the project. I can never go into the dollar store and walk out with just what I went for meaning...I also picked up these nifty nail art polishes.
The afternoon involved doing a few cosmetic type things to my blog waiting for my dad to finish with the lawn. Once he did it was time for dinner and the choice was his. He decided that he wanted a pizza from Hungry Howie's while we watched World Cup soccer waiting for the NBA finals to come on.
Last but very not least, I received my first ever box from Influenster!
I cannot wait to reveal to you all what was inside.
Keep a look out for it tomorrow!
Your turn!
❤ Nichole ❤
Thanks for coming to my birthday and being my bestie! We should go kayaking in Ann Arbor when I get back from my trip. I'm eager to see what's in your Voxbox!
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to thank me for either one of those things!! I wouldn't have missed it for anything<3 We so should! Us and the boys should make a day of it:)
DeleteI've always wanted to go kayaking! Looks like so much fun, so does you whole weekend!
ReplyDeleteAnd that DIY scarf hanger...you just saved my life!
Not that I'm an expert since it was my first time but I definitely recommend going! And right?? I saw that over on Sarah's blog and felt the same way!
DeleteThose pictures from your kayaking trip look gorgeous! Looks like you had a great time. I love that idea for the scarf hanger. I so many scarves just stuffed into one of my bureau drawers. I need to keep that project in mind for a rainy day :)
ReplyDeleteIt really really was! - Similar, mine were hanging on a belt rack and impossible to see or get. It took me only about a total of 10 minutes after I got all the scarves together and organized how I wanted them to hang. :)
DeleteBilly is quite the guy. So sweet that he remembered about your conversation from a few weeks ago and even made it happen. Happy 18 months to you two <3
ReplyDeleteI think the fact he remembered is what made it that much more special. Thank you Jessie!
DeleteYou went kayaking?! Jealous! My boyfriend and I have been dying to do something like that and from your pictures...it looks like so much fun! :)
ReplyDeleteYou guys should go when/if you get the chance! I didn't want the time to end!
DeleteJoe kept trying to get me into a Kayak when we were up in Oscada, but I wasn't feeling brave enough. I bet it's a great way to see wildlife though! And that cake, well that looks AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteI was sorting out all my scarves yesterday for packing (totally didn't realise I'd grown my collection again after leaving so many in the UK) I keep seeing that idea for hanging them on Pinterest, really need to do the same when I unpack them!
I thought I would be a bit on the scared side with it being something new, but I felt totally secure in the kayak if hearing that helps! - The cake was incredibly tasty, he even made home made frosting! - Isn't crazy how the collection can grow so fast without you even realizing it??
DeleteYour kayaking trip looks like so much fun! Confession... I'm terrified of being that close and enclosed near dark water. Ha! Great scarf trick! I might just have to copy that one... Happy Monday! :)
ReplyDeleteYou could always check out the map and see where the larger parts are/how many. We only hit about 2 dark water areas and the rest we could somewhat see the bottom. I was actually surprised! I think with your love for nature you would really enjoy it! I also had a feeling you would like the scarf trick!
DeleteIt sounds like you had an awesome weekend! I wanted to see 22 Jump Street, but now I'm dying to! I'm stopping by from the #MIMM Link Up!

DeleteOh my gosh, it sounds like you had a blast this weekend!! I saw that movie too and it was spectacular!! I almost peed myself from laughing so much lol :)
ReplyDeleteAt one point I looked down to see my dad stomping his foot (lightly since in the theater lol) because he was laughing so hard!!
DeleteKayaking looks incredible, you have such beautiful scenery over in the States, I'd absolutely love to have grown up there! Your boyfriend is such a sweetheart too, what a thoughtful gift :)
ReplyDeleteLo at Notebook 54
Aww, thank you! I think each area has its own special little something. I've really enjoyed getting to learn more about the UK through blogging and I love how there are so many festivals to attend! I feel like I read about a different one or one that is coming up almost every weekend. I think it's so cool!
Deleteawww, it looks like you & Billy enjoyed your adventure! :) & OH MY, 6 LAYER CAKE!!!! :O & the scarf holder, what a fantastic idea! :D xxxx
ReplyDeleteIt was SO fun! That cake was awesomely awesome! && the scarf holder has been so practical!
