Hey everyone! How are you all doing today? I'm still a little under the weather, yet slowly and surely working my way back to full health!
Something that's been on my mind recently is why things have to come to an end, which is perfect to share for thinking out loud (with Amanda!). This thought came to me the other day because one of the greatest opportunities I have had in my life is coming to a close. And then it hit me, the end is inevitable. There is an end to everything, even the greatest of things.
However, the end does not have to always be sad.
I think the emphasis is too often put on the end when it should be on the journey. Yes it is sad to close a chapter of your life, but the people you meet and the experiences you have can be held onto for years to come. When you look back, you look back to the memories not the very last day of something. So, instead of letting the end bring us down we should be celebrating all that the opportunity added to our life. Some moments are short and some moments are long, yet the time does not determine the importance of an event to us and our lives. Enjoy the ride of it all.

On Sunday I will be saying goodbye to my rookie season dancing for my local NBA basketball team. Yesterday was our last practice. It is absolutely crazy how time flies. Driving home, I couldn't help to feel sad. This has been my life for the past year and the thing I looked forward to most. I started to think back to all the different memories and then couldn't help to smile. That's when I realized the journey is just as important, if not more, then the end. I am so thankful for each moment and for every person that is now in my life. All of my teammates inspire me in a way that I would never be able to fully express. I may be saying bye to it all for now, but I'm luckier than ever. How? Because I have all of that and then some to take with me.
Questions of the Day:
1) Have you ever had this thought of why cross you mind?
2) Do you place more emphasis on the end or the journey?
3) What do you carry with you after something is finished?
Have a great Thursday!
❤ Nichole ❤
I'm definitely all about the journey. Having to close a chapter of your life is never easy, but as cliche as it might sound, I really think it's better to be happy that it happened than sad that it's over. Plus, it opens the door for new opportunities that can be just as amazing if you do your best to live in the moment and make the best of it. Life is good... there are always things to be happy about :)
ReplyDeleteAhh, love this response! :) Agree so so much. A quote I think of often to do with this topic is "smile because it happened don't cry because it's over" which you definitely touched on!
DeleteI think about this sort of thing like ALL the time. My life has changed so much in the past four months with graduating, starting a full time job, and really settling in to my friendships. It makes you really appreciate each and every day!
ReplyDeleteIt really does! <3 All things have an expiration..it's crazy to think of it that way but it is true. You have to love it for what it is while you have it, but not get lost in the end of it it so you miss out on the next thing that is coming along!
DeleteWow that is a pretty cool opportunity, Nichole! I honestly tend to be more of a journey and look-at-the-whole-picture kind of person and I think a lot of it has to do with the multiple transitions I've had to go through in life. Of course, I'm terrible at goodbyes and all that, but I honestly NEED change and transition in life, even when that transition is a difficult one. I think it keeps things so interesting and makes way for even more relationships and life experiences. :D Hope this season is another great one, Nichole!
ReplyDeleteI like how you said you need it in your life! It definitely is hard to understand at times but you are right when you say transition makes things mean so much more! I love your outlook on it! Thank you for sharing!!!!!
