We all carry around things everyday that weigh us down. The extent in which baggage affects us depends on who we are. However, no matter who we are, the longer we hold onto things the heavier they become and the harder it becomes to rid it from our lives. But what if you decided to simply unpack?
Life is timed out for us beyond what we could ever imagine. It is hard to accept it, but we cannot change it. By not letting go of what we are holding onto there is the possibility we are keeping others who are meant to cross our path from doing so. The baggage we have could turn them away. Here, we are interfering with our life by holding on to the past, instead of taking control of our life by letting go and moving on.
The baggage that weighs you down weighs down those around you too.

Even though it may feel as if they are turning their backs on us that is not the case. It's better to not have someone then to have someone who does not genuinely care. Scenarios where we feel like there is no one there to help us unpack really have the ability to open our eyes if we let them. It can help us see that maybe we should have stopped and looked at what we were carrying with us a long time ago. If it is too much for someone else, it's definitely too much for ourselves.
And always remember no matter how you feel, you are not alone.
It is important to find those in your life who want to help you get through it. They are out there I promise you. They may have yet to come into your life or they may be someone you interact with daily and just don't realize it. Only the right people can successfully help you unpack. When you find them you will know. They are the fibers that have the ability to keep you going.
You have to accept that there are more people out there who are not willing to help you unpack then who are. As well as, the people you want may not be the ones who are meant to. These people also can change throughout time. Be conscious of the ones who do want to and hold onto them as long as you can. Never take them for granted and always appreciate them, for it is rare. Those that stop their life long enough to look to you are a blessing in disguise. It can be hard, but let them in and let them help.

I used to struggle with this, but there is nothing wrong with asking for help.

Our baggage is our responsibility. To truly get rid of it we have to become committed in our mind and heart to do so. It won't matter how much help we get unless we personally decide to let go. Once the choice is made to begin to lighten the load some people can let go all at once and never look back while some people need to do it little by little. Remember what I said at start of this post; the extent in which baggage affects us depends on who we are. Yes, there is no doubt we need to let go and move forward, but it has to be done at a pace that is right and healthy for you.

Let's start unpacking!
Questions of the Day:
1) Do you ever look within to see what baggage you are carrying?
2) Are there certain people in life who help you unpack?
3) How do you decide when it's time to let go?

I fel like I have a lot of baggage and am having a very hard time letting go of it all at the moment. It's been a tough two years and all that has happened is still weighing me down, and it is exhausting. I do wonder if I'll ever be able to let it go!
ReplyDeleteI loved this post- it's so refreshing to read a blog focused on the good and important things in life other than the latest lipstick or perfume. I've followed your blog now as I think it's exactly what I need to read at the moment :) Thank you for sharing your link with me on Twitter!

You will <3 It takes time but eventually you will be able to move on from it and not look back. I have had a rough patch of a few years as well and there are still times I struggle with it but it has continued to get better and instead of being weighed down by it I have grown from it. Stay strong girl.
DeleteWow, thank you so much and thank you for following! I am glad you enjoy it! I absolutely love looking for the good in any situation and writing about it to share with others is definitely a new passion of mine.
I think without a doubt we all look inside ourselves for what baggage we have..I've gained a few people who will help me unpack & help me along the way, those people are definitely worth holding on to but I think the main person whos helped me unpack has to be myself :) Ooooh, we all vary when we realise its time to let go..it took me 4 years to let go of my ex boyfriend :/ but atleast I've finally done it :) xxx
ReplyDeleteGood for you girl! And I definitely agree with you saying that the main person who has helped you unpack it yourself. It has to start with us. If we aren't willing no matter how many people we have by us it won't happen. And yes, it does all take time and all has its time. <3
